DocuTaxVault (“we”, “us”) helps individuals and businesses scan, organize, and store receipts, tax records, and financial documents. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the service you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Account information — your name, email address, account type, and (for business accounts) a company name.
Documents you upload — receipts, invoices, tax forms, and the details extracted from them (merchant, date, amount, tax, category).
Usage data — basic technical information such as log events and actions taken in the app, used to operate and secure the service.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide, maintain, and improve the service.
To organize your documents by tax year and generate the reports you request.
To secure your account and maintain an audit trail of access, sharing, and export.
To communicate with you about your account and important service changes.

4. How We Store and Protect Your Data

Documents are encrypted at rest with AES-256 and transmitted over encrypted (TLS) connections. Access to your documents is logged, and a secure delete permanently purges a file rather than only flagging it. No method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, but we work to protect your information using appropriate safeguards.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. Documents are shared only when you choose to share them — for example, granting your accountant scoped, revocable, read-only access. We may share information with service providers who help us run the platform, or where required by law.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use only the cookies and browser storage needed to keep you signed in and to operate core features. We do not use them to build advertising profiles.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your documents are retained for as long as your account is active. If you cancel a paid plan, your documents remain accessible at the Free plan limits. You can delete individual documents at any time, and deletions are purged securely.

8. Your Rights

You can access, export (as PDF or CSV), and delete your documents from within the app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information; contact us to exercise them.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
